Google Hacking for Penetration Testers

Google Hacking for Penetration Testers
Publisher: Syngress | ISBN: 1931836361 | edition 2001 | PDF | 529 pages | 12,3 mb

Google, the most popular search engine worldwide, provides web surfers with an easy-to-use guide to the Internet, with web and image searches, language translation, and a range of features that make web navigation simple enough for even the novice user. What many users don't realize is that the deceptively simple components that make Google so easy to use are the same features that generously unlock security flaws for the malicious hacker. Vulnerabilities in website security can be discovered through Google hacking, techniques applied to the search engine by computer criminals, identity thieves, and even terrorists to uncover secure information. This book beats Google hackers to the punch, equipping web administrators with penetration testing applications to ensure their site is invulnerable to a hacker's search.

Architecture of Minoan Crete: Constructing Identity in the Aegean Bronze Age

John C. McEnroe Architecture of Minoan Crete: Constructing Identity in the Aegean Bronze Age
University of Texas Press | 2010 | ISBN : 0292721935 | 220 pages | PDF | 49 MB

Ever since Sir Arthur Evans first excavated at the site of the Palace at Knossos in the early twentieth century, scholars and visitors have been drawn to the architecture of Bronze Age Crete. Much of the attraction comes from the geographical and historical uniqueness of the island. Equidistant from Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, Minoan Crete is on the shifting conceptual border between East and West, and chronologically suspended between history and prehistory. In this culturally dynamic context, architecture provided more than physical shelter; it embodied meaning. Architecture was a medium through which Minoans constructed their notions of social, ethnic, and historical identity: the buildings tell us about how the Minoans saw themselves, and how they wanted to be seen by others.

Richard Stratford - Bombarded Britain: A Search for British Impact Structures

Richard Stratford - Bombarded Britain: A Search for British Impact Structures
Publisher: World Scientific Publishing Company | 2004-12 | ISBN: 186094356X | PDF | 220 pages | 10.13 MB

This book describes a search for geological evidence of meteorite impact structures in Britain. The statistics of impact structures indicate that Britain should have Phanerozoic impact structures up to tens of kilometres in diameter. A constant theme is the importance of atmospheric break-up of small asteroids and comets. These fragmenting bodies produce anomalously shallow craters with low rims and central peaks; three British structures of this type are identified.
Analysis of fireball statistics implies that damaging fireball explosions occur over the British Isles on a time-scale of decades. On a time-scale of millennia, however, more damage is done by Atlantic impact tsunami.

Gardening With Native Plants of the Pacific Northwest

Gardening With Native Plants of the Pacific Northwest
Publisher: University of Washington Press | pages: 282 | 1997 | ISBN: 0295974761 | CHM | 12,6 mb

Of the books I own on NW native plant gardening, this book is my most often referenced. It is full of detailed information about a vast array of NW native plants. Dr. Kruckeberg's enthusiasm for the propogation and stewardship of NW natives shines throughout the book. However, this is not a book about landscaping or effective planting combinations; it is a scholarly work that may be useful to a homeowner interested in native plants and their care, or to the professional landscaper in need of detailed reference information. I am impressed by the breadth of the author's knowledge.
